Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any result. Grundy County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains internal unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may collect standard technical and usage details:
- Pages viewed, time spent, and page-view timestamps
- Device type and operating system
- IP address assigned to the device
- Referring website, when supplied
- Browser name and version
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as which Grundy County record pages are often used and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected outside provider
- Finding and repairing security or performance problems
- Operating the site and keeping pages responsive
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Grundy County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It describes how to reach the Grundy County sheriff, the Iowa District Court, Iowa DPS/DCI, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Their own privacy policies apply to information entered there, including their retention and sharing choices. Review the applicable provider policy before submitting a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Grundy County sheriff, Iowa Courts Online, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules govern. Review them before providing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across websites for interest-based ads. Their systems, not ours, perform that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure use and performance
- Search providers that receive a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so the site cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied such data will be addressed by deleting it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to government public records, while Iowa Code chapter 692 limits dissemination of criminal-history data. Those laws govern official custodians and do not turn this private site into a public-record repository. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate visitor information be corrected
- Request deletion where the law permits it
- Opt out of processing when an applicable right allows it
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change. A revised version will be posted here with its new effective date, and continued use will be governed by the posted policy.
